In the second quarter.
After the first quarter moon comes the waxing gibbous moon. The waxing gibbous moon appears as the illuminated portion of the moon grows larger each night until it reaches a full moon.
The first quarter moon occurs when the moon is one-quarter of the way through its lunar cycle, and it appears as a half-circle in the sky. This phase marks the halfway point between the new moon and the full moon. It is a good time for taking action, making decisions, and moving forward with plans.
A Waxing Gibbous occurs when the moon is illuminated between a First Quarter and a Full Moon, during the second half of the moon's cycle. It appears as a larger part of the moon illuminated, but not yet full.
The four main phases of the moon are New Moon, First Quarter, Full Moon, and Last Quarter.

About a second and a quarter.

Both the 1st Quarter moon and the 3rd (last) Quarter moon can be referred to as the "half moon" since we see half of the sunlit side of the moon.
Full moon,New moon,First quarter,Third quarter or Last quarter.
New moon, first quarter, full moon and third quarter.
There is the new moon, first quarter, full moon, and third quarter.
1st quarter moon . . . 7.38 days after New Moon Full moon . . . 14.77 days after New Moon 3rd quarter moon . . . 22.15 days after New Moon New Moon . . . 29.53 days after the previous New Moon.
Most people would think it was just the second quarter moon, but actually it is called a Gibbous moon, which is when the moon is waxing between a first-quarter moon and a full moon. It's actually not my own words, so if you want to know the actual researcher her name is Gail Gibbons. In my own words I would say that it is called a Gibbous moon when it is between a fit quarter moon and a full moon. If this is not all of the information you wanted, then you should go to your local space museums, astronomy centers, or libraries. Special thanks to Mary Ann, Age 8.
