This is a large band of the atmosphere above the Mesosphere and below the Exosphere. Temperatures can be quite high here, up to 1500'C.

Satellites, including the International Space Station, orbit the earth in this region. Although there is not much gas this high, there is still a small amount that can cause some drag on these low orbit satellites, so they need a boost every now and then to keep in orbit.

Aurora's (northern or southern lights) also occur here.

In the exosphere layer, the outermost layer of Earth's atmosphere, gases such as hydrogen and helium are present but in very low densities. This is where Earth's atmosphere gradually transitions into outer space. Due to the extremely low density of particles, temperatures can vary widely ranging from very hot to very cold.

What is in atmospheric layers?

The coldest layer of the atmosphere is the exosphere (space). If you were to not count the exosphere, the coldest layer would be the mesosphere.

Is the exosphere the most dense layer?

No, the exosphere is the least dense layer of Earth's atmosphere. It is the outermost layer where atmospheric molecules are extremely sparse and has a gradual transition into outer space.

What is the outer layer of the thermospherer?

The outer layer of the thermosphere is called the exosphere. It is the outermost layer of Earth's atmosphere and extends beyond the thermosphere. The exosphere is where gas particles are extremely sparse and can travel long distances without colliding with each other.

Which layer of the atmosphere merges into outer space?

The layer of the atmosphere that merges into outer space is the exosphere. This is the outermost layer of the Earth's atmosphere where the air is very thin and gradually blends into the vacuum of space.
