Unlike the word "doze" which means "to sleep", "daze" means to stun or confuse someone or something. Hence the name of the Jimmy Page song "Dazed and Confused". It can also be used as a noun in the expression "in a daze", meaning only semi-conscious, stunned or bewildered.
