yes life does exist without sulight. For a long time scientists believed that life depended on sunlight for energy. Then in 1978 a submarine dived to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. Althought there was no sunlight they found tube worms, clams and crabs and other life forms. These were living on the energy which is inside the Earth, the geothermal heat. ;)

No, humans cannot survive without the sun. Sunlight provides essential vitamin D, regulates our circadian rhythm, and supports plant life which forms the base of the food chain. Without the sun, Earth would be dark, cold, and lifeless.

No... plants need the sun, plants give out oxygen in which we breath

no sun > no plants > no oxygen > no humans > no life

No

And nothing for a planet to orbit...

Yet science is finding ways to blur the edges of our understanding. Apparently, not all energy is derived from the sun after all. According to the 1st site below, recently discovered..."photosynthetic bacteria may get all the light they need for metabolism from the dim radiation emitted by deep-sea hydrothermal vents. ...suggesting the possibility of life in other sunless environments, such as Jupiter's moon Europa." The sun warms the earth and provides energy to plants. Life would not continue on the earth without the sun. People can leave the earth in self-contained environments and survive for short periods of time without needing the sun. People may be able, in the future, to leave the solar system to visit another stellar system. Those people could live without the sun--but they would only be trading our sun for another.

Absolutely. Large colonies of bacteria and ocean tube worms living near undersea black smoker geothermal vents, live off the heat and chemical energy in the effluent of these vents. No sunlight makes it to this depth in the ocean. This is only one example of many.
