Yes the ST and the GT both have the 3SFE or the 3SGE. Both enignes are the same size.
ill tell you in a week
Its on the left side of the engine when you open the bonnet, look down under the exhaust manifold, there should be a small rise where you can put your hand... it is there. Look towards the belt/alternator side of the engine.
If it has the 3sge engine (most have) it has a timing BELT. This belt should be changed every 100,000 km or 60,000 miles. It is really a specialist job for a trained mechanic. I'm trying to find out, but 3sge to 3sfe is moving backwards because the ge head makes the 3s a high performace motor. ... Yes it is moving backwards but that does not answer the question. The blocks are the same (apart from year model revisions like mount moves and flywheel bolt differences). The manifolds, computer and probably engine wiring will also have to be changed.
Not that i know of, but ! There is a 6-speed in the newer celica GTS model, and that transmission will bolt up to the 2.2 Non Turbo engine in the MR2 as well as the turbo engine... But the problem is getting the shift linkage hooked up, the rear engine has a shift linkage on the front of the transmission, and the FWD has a linkage on the rear of the transmission. But i am in the process of putting in a and buying a 6-speed Celica transmission That 6-speed transmission will NOT bolt to a 5sfe, 3sge or 3sgte engine. There are currently no 6 speed options. there might be a 6 speed depending on 09 its not confirmed yet though so keep the fingers crossed
The number is on the block and isjust above where the gearbox connects to the block
I don't know you tell me.
In the United States and Canada, the 86-89 3SGE engine are the same except for the location of the EGR tube. The 86-87 has an external EGR that hooked to the exhaust manifold. The 88-89 has an internal EGR that routes back into the cylinder head. The GT4, Alltrac, turbo was only on the 88-89 in the United States and Canada. 1987-89 celica engines are the same, besides the alltrac series which come with four wheel drive and a turbocharged engine
The engine number is stamped on the engine block on left hand side when standing in front looking at the engine. Below the distributor and to the rear.
3sfe is different to 3sge. F series are the economy type and 3sge is the real 'DOHC'. They almost have the same mounts but you need to have the ge harness and ecu for it to work properly.
The third generation 3S-GE engine wiring diagram can be found in the service manual specific to the vehicle it is installed in. It typically includes details on the engine control module connections, sensor wirings, and essential power and ground locations to help with troubleshooting and modifications. You may also find aftermarket resources or online forums where enthusiasts share such diagrams for reference.
