Low transmission fuid level Transmission filter plugged? Transmission needs rebuild?
Check the fluid level in the tranny first, if its low this will happen .
The number one cylinder on a 95 Mitsubishi Montero is in the front of the engine. It is on the left side as you face it.
95 montero takes 6 plugs
in the transmission
if OD button is disabled, the transmission will not shift into overdrive. your car will be running with one less gear, and using more fuel
On a 1995 Ford Explorer : Overdrive is the normally allowed position If you don't want the transmission to use overdrive ( such as when towing something , or if you are driving in hilly country where you notice the transmission is constantly shifting from overdrive to drive ) push the button on the end of your gear shift lever and the ( O/D OFF light should be lit up in your dash )
EAFT
Typical Town Car/Crown Vic/Grand Marquis problem. The computer which controls the tranny probably needs to be replaced.
Check the fuse. If it has a manual OD switch to turn off and on be sure it is on.
Od is usually of. You only use it when traveling at high speed. =========================================================== Overdrive is the normally allowed position The O/D OFF light in your dash comes on if you have switched the overdrive off It won't shift into overdrive ( top gear ) until the speed is higher anyway , such as on the highway or freeway
I have a 1996 Prizm LSI and the OD switch is a small round button on the side of the shift lever. You could have accidentally switched it off and that is why you get the light.
