∙ 16y agoThe computer has sensed a malfunction that is either performance or emmissions related. The engine may be running okay, but you need to have the ODBII scanned to see what the trouble code(s) is/are. The beauty of computers and check engine lights is that the system senses problems while they are at an early stage, therefore, you don't have to wait till the engine runs crappy before you realize there is a problem.
