No one seems to have a good answer for the LOADING problem. I removed the Batt. cables and the LOADING went away for a couple of days but came back.
I've had it with Hyundai, they just say buy a new radio because they don't know what to do.
you could go to radio shack and get an installation kit for 96' elantra and it is self explanatory.
It does not have that option in the stock radio
mine did same, 95 elantra. it was fuse for radio in fuse box. hope that helps.
I've not done it yet but I found this web page with instructions. http://egt.gwebworks.com/garage2.shtml
the fuses for the inside of the car is Dow under the dash just under the hood release bottom.
I had the same problem with my radio in my Hyundai scoupe 1991 and I just go to the dealership and after checking on their computer they give me a code to restar my radio.
the following website gives detailed information on how to remove and reinstall the 1996 Hyundai elantra radio, i just used this to replace my own radio today. Hope it helps! http://www.hmaservice.com/webtech/iindex.asp?id=3212&modelyr=1996&modelid=5&enginemotormmc=10&pre=0&reviewed=1#_3212
Try this site. I got the one for my 1998 Elantra and well as the alarm diagram. It was free and basically: click on Car Stereo Wiring Diagrams near the upper left of the page, click on Hyundai where all the makes are and then look to the right for the car you want. www.modifiedlife.com
Turn your car on, so that the radio can be turned on and off. Then turn your radio off. After is it off, push the clock button and while holding clock, use seek to change the hour and tune to change the minutes.
The radio unit on a Hyundai Elantra is held in place by a mounting bracket found behind the center console. First remove the center console then remove the screws on the mounting bracket. The radio will be able to slide forward. Once pulled out remove the wire harness that plugs into the radio.
The radio/CD player must NOT be turned on. Press the DISP button on the right-hand side until the the clock display starts flashing. Then press the Up or Down arrows to the left of the clock display to move the time forward or backward. These are the buttons you would use to change tracks or stations when the CD/radio is on. When done, press the DISP button again to stop the time from flashing.
I had problem on my 2001 Elantra with power for radio, inside light and trunk light. I found the fuse in the fuse compartment on dashboard on the left side from the steering wheel. To acces it you need to pull out the coin holder. Inside you will see the fuses and diagram with tags. Radio was in the second row on the right if I remember correct. Good luck.
