one of the ssensors got water in it
the "check engine" light will come on or there will be a puddle of gasoline or oil where the car is parked
It may well be that some of the water that was thrown up has gone onto a sensor, causing it to think that something is wrong and therefore triggering the check engine light. If that's the case it should dry off if you leave the car running for a while or drive it around (assuming it's driving without any problems.) Once the sensor dries and it's happy there isn't a fault, the light should go off. If it doesn't, or the car shows any other symptoms you're concerned with, take it to an expert.

you might hit a puddle or a big bump that shook the vehicle to make the light come on
you have a stuck valve
its the engine management light or the service light
A puddle lamp is a light on the bottom of a car door that illuminates the ground when the door is openned. It lets you see what you are about to step in when you exit the car, be it a puddle or whatever.
a puddle or a rainbow
Depends why the light is on. At my shop I've reset the light with a scan tool and drove through a drive cycle and inspected the vehicle. Unless it's a major problem or a sensor is showing zero reading you can usually put 20-60 highway majority miles and pass. Most vehicles require multiple consecutive failed emission readings before triggering the check engine light.
