Generally it is recommended replacing the timing belt and water pump on a 4 cylinder Subaru engine at 10 years or 100,000 miles, which ever comes first.
Go to: http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/us_b12/ Select Body Style, Engine Type, Transmission, etc. Go to Cooling System. Select Water Pump; You should find Thermostat, Gasket & applicable part numbers...
Drain the water from the cooling system. Remove the water hose from the thermostat housing. Remove the thermostat housing retaining bolts. Remove the thermostat. Reverse the process to install the new thermostat.
No
See your user manual, its great for help with all the basic maintenance
looking for info on locating water pump and timing belt on 99 subaru outback 2.5 liter motor, hopefully with a diagram...thank you
Same problem turned out to be a hair line fracture to the head!
Yes. You cannot see the water pump because it is in position to be driven by the timing belt. Always replace then together.
ok 1990-1994 subaru legacy engines are basically the same the water pump on mine 1991 is located on the thermostat housing on the bottom of the engine on the lower tube off the radiator so find your lower radiator hose follow it is should go to the thermostat and the water pump is on that
it is in front of the engine block under the water pump kinda low on the engine
Yes. It probably is not set the same as the previous thermostat and therefore may heat the water to a different temperature. NO WAY each are independent
probably a water heater.... {BMF}
