The 1999 Pontiac sun fire oil sending unit is located in the bottom of the engine. You will need to remove the oil pan in order to view the oil sending unit.
The oil sending unit is just behind the oil filter. It screws into an aluminum housing and should be easy to remove.
It is right beside the Distributor.
If your sending unit is sending a wrong signal to your dash indicator such as no oil or low on oil when you know the level is okay, or vice-versa. Sometimes the sending unit will short out or just wear out and send the wrong or no signal at all.

It is located on the oil filter housing unit. It will be beside the oil filter. You need to disconnect the clip on top of the sending unit, then it unscrews. Once you replace it, don't forget to connect the clip.
It's at top rear of the engine, near the distributor.
the oil pressure sending unit on 1997 and up to 99 wrangler tjs and saharas are right above the oil filter i believe which is located on the left hand side of the block.
The oil sending unit is located on top of engine at the rear located next to the distributor, It takes and special socket to remove or a pair of adjustable pliers. I am a Master Auto Technician of 30 years.
