well, let me preface this by saying that if you don't even know how to find the air filter, then you shouldn't be doing --anything-- under the hood!
however, if you insist, then open the hood, and look at the top center of your engine. there is a large corrugated (wrinkled up) tube that comes off of it and goes off to the side (on my '91 it goes to the left.) and ends in a bell housing about the size of a curled up cat. (hopefully you know what -that- is...)
around the edges, there will be clips that hold the housing together. unclip them. this should be done by hand, with no tools needed. if you need a tool, you're not doing it right, so take it to a mechanic and only open the hood to check your oil. nothing else.
ok, so, hopefully by now you've got the clips undone. there is an air handling manifold that sticks inside the bell housing and filter, so you must pull it out pretty straight, but don't worry about the air line, as this is why it's corrugated, so it can bend with no damage. then, inside the bell housing, you will find the filter. there are three tabs located around the housing edge that fit into reccesses in the filter to keep it properly aligned. make a note of them, and be sure to put your new filter back in with the tabs aligned. then stick the manifold back in, re attach the clips, and boom. you're done. now leave the rest to someone who knows what they're doing. or get a book or something.
sheesh.
Just tried to buy one from dealer, was informed it does not have a cabin filter
where is the port to add freon in a 1997 mitsubishi montero sport
The 98 Mitsubishi Montero has two possible low side ac port locations. One is on the drivers side firewall, the other possibility is on the passenger side frame rail, below the air filter box.
The Mitsubishi air conditioning drain is located near the bottom of the firewall in the engine compartment. The drain is on the passenger side of the firewall.
When you buy filter in box there is image what shows you where filter is located
The cabin air filter on a 1999 Mitsubishi Legnum is located behind the glove box. The filter can be removed once the glove box is released and taken out.
The Mass Air Flow Sensor is located after your air intake box (where the air filter is). It will have a wired connector attached to it.
You can find the PCV valve for your 1997 Mitsubishi Montero on top of the engine. The PCV valve will be in front of the air cleaner housing.
You will needs to get a new part and possibly a new filter. A local automotive shop can help you get the parts and install them.
Somewhere between air filter and throttle body.
You can find behind the glove box compartment.
Open the 4 clips that hold your air filter housing together and flip up the top half. Look at the airflow meter inside the end of the housing, see that metal hexagonal array that all the air has to travel through? That is the intake air temperature sensor for your vehicle.
