on four cylinder engines the pcv valve is mounted in a grommet on the breather seporator (located on the lower timing chain cover on the right side of the engine, below the power steering pump).You have to disconnect the hose to even see it. Good luck.
You can find the PCV valve for your 1987 Nissan on top of the engine. The PCV valve will be near the air filter housing.
