Overdrive is the normally allowed position in a Ford Explorer automatic transmission ,
once the vehicle speed is fast enough ( my Ford Explorer is 50 MPH ) the automatic
transmission will automatically shift into overdrive
That means "OverDrive".
First of all...auto or manual? Also, why was the question asked as if overdrive is it's own gear? Check your fuses first, but with lack of detail there is no definite answer at this time.
change the overdrive sensor should be on the left side of the gear box.
It's the overdrive engage button, which is like a 5th gear. It only engages when the gear lever is in 4th gear and it can be operated without depressing the clutch.
On the Nissan 240SX the electric overdrive switch is located on the right side of the transmission. Overdrive allows shifting into the auto's fourth gear.
the button is by the gear selector lever
diff. answer for 3sp, 4sp and 5sp. but 4000 to 4500 is common. if in top gear. if auto in overdrive.
The overdrive is designed for speeds after 50 mph so your overdrive should not be engaged until you are driving on the highway. The overdrive gear is designed for fuel efficiency and does nothing in town.
Top Gear Overdrive happened in 1998.
First the gear could be out. The other issue could be with the linkage itself in the transmission thus it won't go into overdrive.
Top Gear Overdrive was created on 1998-11-23.
its acruising gear on all fords whether manual or auto so you save gas and your tranny goes into a higher gear, less torque on tranny
