What would cause a gear shifter of my Toyota 4Runner to be stuck in park the car will start but it blows the 'tail fuse' every time?
Need Year and Model of vehicle? what type engine? 6cyl 4 cyl.
it's a 1994
Check auto Transmission Fluid level.
Does fuse blow right as you replace it or when you try to shift it?
both! took it off-roading this wknd and every time it was put in PARK it got stuck! changed the fuse & it blew as soon as i hit the brake pedal.
took a look at the ground to the stereo etc, and everything looks great.

If there is oil present or pressure that blows water out then its very likely a head gasket. Also check the oil and see if there is a discoloration of the oil. There is a possibility it is coming thru the manifold and you can check there too.

I'd use Toyota plug wires to replace the old ones. I used generic wires from auto parts store and within 10,000 miles had to take 4runner in for engine running rough. The cause was ...... faulty plug wires. Replace one wire at a time and put new plug wire where the old one came from.
