I have owned two Frontiers, both purchased second hand. Based on my experience the vehicle will outlive most humans. The "pre hardbody" version was prone to excessive body rust, but the motors and transmissions were very sturdy. Since the introduction of the hard body, the technology surrounding rust prevention has improved dramatically. For example, my current model (1999 SE 4x4 auto) is a rust free, highly reliable vehicle - more so than the higher priced vehicles in my garage from premium German automakers.
As with any mechanical device, regular preventative maintenance is never a bad idea.
The life expectancy of a Nissan vehicle is usually at least a decade. They are good cars that are easily repaired, and rarely tear up in the first place.
