my '00 is 14 city mpg and 17 highway mpg, however; can vary with estimate 11 and 17 mpg in the city, and between 14 and 20 mpg on the highway. mine does real good. she's sweet. had since birth. v8 4wd...I guess a standard pickup could be from 12-22 mpg city and 15 to 27 mpg highway...lady '00 tundra driver

4 or V6? EPA for the V6 as in my '01 is 23/28. I squeeze 30 out of it by driving 55 on the highway and taking off slowly from stops, keeping the revs under 2000. Range is 300 miles with normal driving, 400 with grandma driving. The 4 cylinder is maybe 1mpg better.

my 97 sebring had the same noise that you say, there in a factory recall on 95-01 01 sebrings for the front ball joints call the dealer and they will replace them for free this solved my problem and i get better gas mileage too!
I have an '01 Escape and it sometimes gets poor mileage in stop and go traffic (like every other car). A way to improve this is to turn the O/D off in this type of traffic and then turn it back on when you're at highway speeds and doing a constant speed for a minute or more. Another thing that could be causing poor gas mileage is an engine issue (spark plugs, transmission fluid, etc.). Make sure you're up on your maintenence and all should be well! The '01 Escapes get a bad wrap for certain problems, but they just need some TLC from time to time!

For what it's worth, my '96 with the small OHV engine and over 200,000 miles on the odometer still gets between 29 and 31 MPG. I would sort of expect that your newer, presumably lower mileage car, would do that well, or better, if it's been maintained well and has no major problems. FriPilot
94-01 Rams average 13mpg in good condition for a 4x4 and around 15-16mpg with a 4x2. The 318 and 360 get similar mileage.
