The vin is located on a riveted plate on the driver's side dashboard near the bottom edge of the windshield just above the windshield wiper.

My car does the same thing, it is a 1994 accord, I had wrote down the code though. I think if you contact a dealership with your VIN number they will be able to give you your stereo code. Same as if you loose your only key you can use your VIN to get a new one cut.
