HICAS is the rear tire steering unit. If the light goes on, add DEXRON III fluid to the Power Steering reservoir.
The J30t has the touring alloys, a whale tail, and 4 wheel steering (Hicas system).
yes you just have to get a manual tranny from a 300zx because they did not make manuals for the j30
the reservoir is on the passenger side of the car. It's a black cylinder with a cap (J30) or a cap and wire (J30t).
The HICAS light typically indicates a problem with the High Capacity Actively Controlled Steering (HICAS) system in your vehicle. It could be due to issues with the steering angle sensor, electrical faults, or a malfunction in the HICAS control unit. It is recommended to have the system checked by a qualified mechanic to diagnose and repair the issue.
The hicsa light stands for (High Capacity Actively Controlled Steering) It is Nissan's rear wheel steering system. It is very complicated so take it to a Nissan dealer for repair.
It means there is a problem with your HICAS. HICAS steers your rear wheels at high speed moving not more than 2 degrees + or -. The light has come on indicating that there is a problem. This is where is gets fuzzy because the problems are hard to trace down. It could be a fuse, it could be a bad sensor, it could be low transmission fluid (even though HICAS is electrical on a r33), it could be your HICAS ECU. Good luck
HICAS is a form of rear wheel steering. This is where the rear wheels of the car can actually turn, but only a couple of degrees. The only time that this happens is where the car feels like you are going to lose it around a corner. This HICAS will then kick in and try correct the over/understeer. Most people who are into racing will remove the HICAS and replace it with a lock bar as it give you less feel around corners when travelling at speed, but for the everyday driver, it may safe you from losing it if you're doing something stupid.
It's located on the passenger side, between the motor and the fender, near the back. If memory serves (at this writing my daughter has the J30t out) there is a bolt holding it in place. Remove the bolt and pull the filter out. Remove the hoses at each end, taking note of which end is the intake.
Low power steering fluid usually
Apparently this is often caused by low power steering fluid. Top that up and you should be good. Even though I just bought one of these this seems to match my experience (as I noticed my power steering needs help right now and my hicas light keeps coming on) Mine cam on when it was very cold out. After the car warmed up and the key was turned off/on. The HICAS light went out.
If you hear the sunroof motor trying to work it is usually a piece of the weather stripping that gets stuck in the pathway of the retraction. Or an area of rust and loss of lubrication grease to allow for it to roll back.
