SR5 generally denotes a specifc Toyota trim level, with a more
sporty look, firmer suspension and wide flexibility for options. The SR5 package was first introduced in around 1975 for Toyotas HiLux model and did mean
Sport Rally 5-Speed at that time but no longer is designated for those specific options now.
It's the name for the top-of-the-line interior package that Toyota has. Power windows, locks, etc.

The SR5 is the Base. You are thinking of the Limited, it the upgraded Tundra. (More Chrome and trinkets.)

Probably when new, but any vehicle that is 12 years old is bound to have some problems. Usually Toyota's stand up pretty well.
