The only engines that will fit in this car without significant modification to the car are the stock engine (6g72) or the Mitsubishi 3.5L 6g74.
Yes, this was done on diesel engines for a while.

A gear box for a 1989 2.6-ltr petrol Mitsubishi Pajero cannot fit on a 2.3-ltr diesel motor.
It will physically fit as many diesel engines share the same blocks, but the gear ratios will be unsuitable, due to the reduced effective rev range of a diesel compared to the petrol engine. In short, will probably fit, won't work

Most likely it will not, 99 and 00 are different models. They have different engines and as result different gear to mount headers.
depends on the sizes of the engines to start with, where the engine mounts were. if it was a Mitsubishi lancer that come out with a 1.6 and 1.8 engines then yes they would fit with minimal modification.
ny 4g63 motor out of eclipse another talon or a Mitsubishi l200 truck
What engines fit a 1980trans am
Yes the transmission will fit in a 2000
There are several engines that will fit from the Mitsubishi family. Similar engines from a Mitsubishi Mirage (sedan, coupe, or hatchback), engines from the "Eagle Talon" (aka Mitsubishi Eclipse outside the US), and of course from the Mitsubishi Eclipse itself. Now granted; they wont be like LEGOs but if your looking for speed and power you'll get it from the Eclipse engines. They're almost all pushing over 100 HP easily, the engines put out 1800cc's or so and are pumping out numbers near 200 HP with mild customization. I own a '86 Colt E sedan and I am about to undertake some serious overhaul and customization for it. Hopefully when it's all done it'll be sitting with a Turbo 4G63T block from a Eclipse/Talon. And if you didn't know this that is the same engine they've (Mitsubishi) have been using in their Lancer EVOLUTION sedans up until 2008. Hopefully this has gotten you inspired to not give up.
