(1) Disconnect the battery. Remove the plastic cover on the driver's side and the plastic housing behind the steering wheel.
(2) Pull the steering wheel cover (horn pad) off. There are four clamps holding on the cover.
(3) Remove the horn plate (four spring loaded screws) and unplug the connector wire.
(4) Make sure the wheels are pointed straight ahead and mark the placement of the steering wheel on the steering column. (I used a sharpie).
(5) Loosen the steering wheel nut (17mm), but do not totally remove it. Wiggle the steering wheel back and forth, and it should pop loose. If not, try a little liquid wrench. This is much better than using a steering wheel puller.
(6) Remove the two screws on the white housing holding the turn signal switch.
(7) Undo the wiring harnesses at the turn signal switch. There is a second connector plug built into the switch with a red and orange wire. The connection is below and to the right of the ignition switch.
(8) Remove the old unit and replace with the new. Connect the wiring, and reinsert the two screws into the white base.
(9) Replace the steering wheel matching up the marking you made earlier, and tighten the 17mm bolt. Replace the horn plate using the four spring loaded screws. The white plastic spacers inside the springs must be able to slide through the horn plate.
(10) Clamp the horn cover back on and reinstall the plastic covers. You're done.

If you have a manual transmission the stop button on the clutch switch may have broken apart, replace the stop button to fix the cruise control. You can get one at any Nissan Dealership.

That light indicates that the headlight switch is in the on position with the engine not running and the drivers side door open.
