if it is while the car is turned off with out the key in it is to avoid theft while there is no key in the ignition.
no, it well end up caching on fire.
Yes you can
no not nessecarily, it could have been a coincedence that it broke when you turned the key.
You need to turn the wheel (about 1/4 inch) to relieve the pressure while you turn the ignition.
No, but the 12 volt outlet must be activated. On some cars you must have the ignition switch turned to accessory.
It varies from car to car. In my experience it does help to have the ignition on or the engine running while adding air to the tires. The system seems to recognized the pressure change faster and turn the light out.It varies from car to car. The first thing to try is to turn steering wheel left and right while trying to turn the key. If the key was turned off and the steering wheel was in a turned posistion, there could be pressure on the wheel and that stops the key from turning-- it will feel locked and jammed. Release preassure from key by turning wheel each way while turning key.
In my 1991 525i auto it can. The ignition turns off and the steering will lock if turned. Bad idea.
Sounds like ignition switch
I had this happen on my 2003 Sequoia while under warranty. I was a defective gauge and required replacement. Type your answer here...
While the ignition is in the ON position, follow this sequence:Turn your headlights to the parking position and then OFF 3x's.
