When the Honda Civic gas light comes on, there is approximately two gallons of gas left in the tank. Most automobiles have a two gallon warning system to allow for the driver to fuel at the next gas station.
I have the same question. I bought a 2001 Honda Civic EX and my duaghter has left the lights on several times and run down the battery. I'm trying to figure out if the car has a broken warning chime.

The transmission dipstick on a 1987 Honda Civic is located to the left of the oil dipstick. It is close to the left edge of the engine.

The light comes on and goes off when you have 2 gallons of gas left & the light stays on when you are on your last gallon of gas.
I did have a 2001 Honda civic, and the way to get out that radeois, first thing you ash tray, then they are two 10mm screw underneath the console one is in front and the next is to the left.
