Check the owners manual for sure. There are different locking modes that can it can be set to. Read it as it is talking about the locking mechanism itself, not the lock in the back seat. That was how I was reading it. So you first press the unlock to unlock the doors and make sure all the doors are closed. Then turn the key just into the on position not all the way on and then push the lock forward within 5 seconds of the key being on and then count for 5 seconds and watch your dash the open door warning light will flash and that will tell you that it is programed. do this each time to get it into the mode you want.
