In the manual it says to turn the ignition key, then press (or pull) the switch that controls the dimming on the display panel. This is what worked for me. I just read the manual.
To reset the ECU you need to locate the ECU backup fuse located in the under hood fuse box and pull it for about a minute and then put it back. Alternately, get a 10mm and disconnect the battery for about ten minutes.
