You need to follow the same procedure as for timing belt replacement. But in the case of the oil pump you have to remove the oil pan too. You will have to remove the timing belt and the engine pan. Only after that you will get access to the oil pump.
Where is the oil filter located on a 1991 toyota pickup
how do you change the oil pump on a 1991 s10 pickup
Basically the same thing when you replace the timing belt, you will have to remove the engine pan, oil pick up line. And only then you will be able to remove the oil pump.
Remove the oil pan, unbolt the pickup tube and pump and replace it with the new pump. You may have to loosen up the engine mounts to jack up the engine for room to work on every thing. I recomend a new pickup tube with the new oil pump.
$500-600 + part price or more (at Toyota dealer).
The engine oil capacity of a 1990 Toyota pickup is 5 quarts. This includes replacing the oil filter which stores a small amount of oil.
