For my "87 Prelude, replacement of the head gasket involves A LOT of work. A MANUAL IS REQUIRED (i.e. Chilton's). All removed screws, bolts, nuts, hoses, gaskets, and parts must be carefully organized or you're going to have a nightmare trying to get everything back together. Removal and replacement of AT LEAST the following is required: intake manifold, exhaust manifold, valve cover, timing belt, timing belt cover, alternator belt, a/c belt, Power Steering belt, spark plugs, engine oil. The engine must be set at Top Dead Center and kept there until reassembled. Great care must be taken to prevent dirt and objects from getting into the cylinders once the head is removed. The head bolts must be removed carefully and it is recommended that the head stud holes be rethreaded prior to reinstallation of the head. Also, it is a good idea to replace the head studs or it may be required (call dealer's part dept.). While doing this, it is wise to replace the water pump and timing belt while you've got everything off. Once the head is off, it should be taken to a service center (i.e. NAPA) for reconditioning. This will extend the life of your engine and help it operate like A ROCKET! It is foolish to not service the head while it is off the engine. The cam gasket should be replaced as well so it won't leak oil on your new timing belt. There are more items I probably left out as well as further items that can be done so you do this once and not have to do it twice, like I did. No,but with instructions you should be able to do this
Yes
If you need to ask send it to the dealer or a #1 auto repair shop in your area.
The average cost to replace a head gasket on the 1992 Toyota Camry varies slightly with the area where you are located. The replacement can cost as little as 700 dollars and as much as 1300 dollars.
right above the neck
It does not.
No not hardly. The only thing that stuff will do is stop up your heater core and radiator. They have never made anything in a can are bottle that would fix a blown head gasket.
none, you want to get it replaced, this is the most critical gasket because it prevents specs of dust and foreign objects(antifreeze) in the places it needs to be. If you use something like silicon you just increase the chances of silicon getting into you're engine and tearing everything to shreds.
Bad PCV Valve? Leaking head gasket?
The 4th generation Prelude from 92 to 96, doesn't have cabin air filter installed. However it is possible to modify a filter from 5th gen Prelude, but is not an easy task.
Were the rings replaced at the time the head gasket was replaced? Common problem when replacing the head gasket is not fixing other engine problems which usually go hand in hand with head gasket problems.
