on the alternator there are 3 points of connection. the pivot bolt connecting the alternator to the block like a hinge, the adjusting bolt used to put tension on the belt by pulling or pushing away from the block and the electrical connections (1 plug and one bolt/nut)
(1) disconnect the negative battery terminal (to prevent arcing out the connectors)
(2) loosen the lock bolt at the bottom of the tension bolt (if there is one)
(3) loosen the pivot bolt
(4) loosen the adjusting bolt till you can easily remove the belt from the alternator pulley
(5) undo the electrical connectors (remember the order of bolt nut washer and connection)
(6) undo the adjusting bolt till you can swing the alternator freely
(7) while holding the alternator with one hand (or using some means of free labour like a family member or well trained dog) remove the pivot bolt.
then do it the other way round to put it back together also a good time to check and or, replace the belt while you do this.
(NOTE) try to put bolts and nuts back into the places they came from as you remove parts this helps to make sure things go back together
