There is a bar that should be in your cab of the truck, it attaches to rear wall of the cab. It is about 2 feet long, and one of the first things that gets lost in a truck..So go toethe rear of the truck just above the bumper alittle left of dead center you will see a oval shaped cut out. You are supposed to put the bar through that hole to the chain release mechanism that is just above the spare tire as it sits under truck. get something like a metal yard stick but slightly thicker and about half as wide. You will be slipping the end into a slot on the chain winch that raises and lowers spair tire once you get it in the slot, you will need a pair of plyers or vice grips to turn the mechanism counterclockwise. Look at the jack of your truck it uses the same bar, and that is what you are trying to fit the 'new bar' into its not easy, and its a knuckle buster. Best thing to do is crawl under truck first and look at the 'aiming point 'on top of spair first... then you at least know where you are aiming. I am assuming you have lost the jack bar, if not want to see it... GD 1993 4x4 HB SE workhorse
