Yes, you can. There is a special liquid designed to clean the engine. Also you can hose the engine. Just make sure that you use home type water pressure not high pressure.
A very big and hard to clean mess.
How long it takes the SES volunteers to clean up after a cyclone varies depending on the damage and the funding. Sometimes it takes several months to remove all of the debris.

There is no valve adjustment on the 2.4 litre 4G64 engine as it has hydraulic lifters fitted, if they are noisy then there are oil additives to clean them or they may need replacing.
well it depends on the year, for lancers in the 1990's, the filter is located in the reservoir. so u gotta "drop the pan", screw out the filter, it would be good if u could clean the pan before installing your new transmission filter. ottey2000@yahoo.com
you clean the engine just like you clean anything, everything under the hood should be waterproof
The mass air flow sensor on an 02 lancer is located in the intake pipe, directly behind the air filter box. To get to it, you need to take out the air filter, undo some hose clamps, and some screw securing the sensor to the filter box. It's a bit tricky, and you'll need some pliers to hold the bolt ends that are inside the filter box. Only clean the sensor with mass airflow sensor cleaner!!!
You really shouldn't. It is part of the entire engine control system and cleaning it would probably damage it. If you insist on cleaning it, take it off the vehicle and just spray it with Electronics cleaner that HAS NO LUBRICANTS!!
Your car is dieseling. Air is still entering the engine even though you shut it off. Check the Idle Air Control. There might be some sort of deposits which is not allowing the Idle Air Control to fully close. Remove and check to see if it's clean. If not, you'll have to clean it of the carbon deposits.
