You need to get a special compression gauge. After you get, you need to make sure that your battery is fully charged and you have warmed it up. Then you have to remove the spark plugs. Connect the gauge to the first cylinder and crank the engine 7-10 times. Then check the pressure. I believe it should be about 175 psi.
Be extremely careful when you do that. Manufacture recommends to disconnect the fuel before you start. But if you are careful enough you do not need to do that.
Check the transmission fluid level.
Check transmission fluid level.
Check the idle sensor if you have one.
Check spark plugs, plug wires, do a compression test
Check the transmission fluid level.
there is no cabin air filter on a 1996 Camry
where is the thermostat on a 1996 Toyota Camry
No, you can't.
Could be a myriad of causes. If your light is on- check codes and that will help pinpint. If it doesn't crank could be the starter or power to. If it does, and PATS (security) not activated, it needs 3 things to run, compression, air/fuel, spark. Has gas, check fuel pressure at rail, that ok, check spark, that ok, check compression.
The ECT or the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor is a switch. This switch is located on the bottom of the radiator in the 1996 Camry.
