To change the park light on a Subaru Impreza prop the trunk lid open and locate the taillight housing. Remove the plastic cover and the bulbs for the parking lights. Replace the bulbs.
Purchase a new one
I have had the same problem with my '93 Impreza. The button on the automatic shifter will not depress to take it out of park. There is an override option in the owner's manual but I think the real problem is the brake light sensor. Ocassionaly, when I can actually get it out of park, you can hear a clicking noise when the brake petal is pressed, this is the shifter-lock releasing. It must be the sensor for the brake petal going bad.

how do you change a parking light bulb on a vauxhall astra 06 plate please.
I'm not completely familiar with the VW transmission, but I had a Subaru Impreza that had this problem one time. The problem was that the safety lock (that keeps you from taking it out of park without applying the brake) was tied into the horn relay on my Impreza. It's probably a similar issue with your VW, although it may be a different relay that has gone bad. In other words, check your relays & fuses, because it's more than likely an electrical issue. Also, in the Subaru, there was a small hole at the front of the shifter (in front of Park, beneath the plastic console) that you could insert a screwdriver into to bypass the relay in order to drive the car until the relay could be repaired. Again, not sure about VW's design, but I hope this information is useful!
Park your vehicle on a level surface. Drain the oil and change the filter. Pour in 4 quarts of the correct weight oil. Start the engine and run for 45 seconds. Shut down and wait 45 minutes. Check the oil level and add as necessary to reach the full mark. You now know the capacity.
there is an interlock that prevents you from taking it out of park unless the brake pedal is pushed. if it is still locked with the brake applied, check to insure the brake lights are working (in case it is an electrical problem), or check the owners manual. most cars have an override for this system such as a hole in the console you can stick your key into to bypass the lock.
If you cant change it it's broken. Regards cemalig
It all depends on where you go, I would suggest going to the dealer. It may cost a few more dollars, but the timing is hard to get right on subarus. If I had to guess I would say around $700
Push. Hard.
How can you change the light bulb for the gear shift on a 2002 Toyota Camry?
There is a short circuit in the wiring, somewhere.
