(1) Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. (CAUTION: if the radio in the vehicle is equipped with an anti-theft system make sure you have the correct re-activation code before disconnecting the battery!) (2) Clearly label then disconnect the wires from the terminals on the starter motor solenoid. Disconnect any clips securimng the wiring to the starter. (3) Remove the mounting bolts and detach the starter from the block. (4) Installation is the revers of removal. The Haynes Manual has 4 detailed illustrations that show this process step-by-step. I suggest that you consider borrowing a copy from your local library or buying one. They are great for DIY stuff on the vehicle.

The starter for a 2002 Honda CRV costs $765.03, without any parts mark-up. With 2.1 hours labor to replace and at $90 an hour labor, that totals 954.03 + 53.55 tax = 1007.58.
Did you use genuine Honda ATF DW-1 transmission fluid. If not then that is the problem. Drain the fluid and use the correct fluid.
10W-30 is recommended.
