Hi there, I had the same problem trying to replace a bulb but struggled. You need a screwdriver to place between the yellow inddicator & bonnet. The yellow indicator should just snap out of position, then you'll see the screws.
The Toyota MR2 factory recommendations say to change the belt at 90,000 miles. If the belt runs past its use and the belt can snap leading to complete engine failure.
Take the trans out, the clutch is inside the trans ^_^

No factory roll bars were installed in any generation of MR2
Well I suppose if I had an MR2 then I would carefully remove all the trim pieces around it then remove the screws retaining it to the backing and gently pull it out . But as always it is not mine ,so if you want to also know the easiest way to do it ,Have somebody else fix it. Alas that might not be the least expensive way though.
