why is subaru forester 1998 hold light flashing
Normally this is caused by a defective brake light switch or one that is out of adjustment.
The transmission doesn't have a light. It functions just fine in the dark.
If its like the 08. then its the cover of the rear brake light hitting the window.
Replace the bulb, had to change one myselfe.
Here's a video that demonstrates how to change the clock light. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L11UQk7G23U
2005 Subaru Forester brake light bulb lamp replacement procedure: Purchase the correct replacement brake light bulb(s) first, before disassembling the vehicle. See sources and related links below for replacement brake light bulb information. Then consult your owner's manual for the replacement procedure. As simple as it sounds, the owner's manual is the best place to start for brake light bulb lamp replacement instructions and illustrations. You may want to consider replacing both left and right at the same time in order to keep brightness and color equal (optional).
On my Subaru Forester the instrument panel lamps are dimmed by turning a ring on the turn signal stalk.
On my 2000 Forester, the dashboard illumination dimmer control is on the turn signal stalk. --Ken
With the proper scan tool.
This was answered last week and is a simple procedure. One Phillips screw holds the parking light on in my 2000 Forester. You open the hood, remove the screw, pull the lamp assembly out and you have access to change the bulb. If you are asking about changing the whole assembly, the answer is the same. --Ken
Subaru Forester does not have cornering lights, so chances are you are asking about the front parking light. The housing is held on by one screw accessible under the hood. You then pull the housing toward the front of the car. Bottom of that housing has a ball stud that fits in a socket on a small ear on the headlamp housing. This will allow you to either change the bulb or change the entire housing. --Ken
