∙ 16y agoTurn on the hot water; let it run until the water gets very hot. Then reduce the water to a low trickle, and with the garbage disposal on, add a generous squirt or two of regular liquid dishwashing liquid (not automatic dishwasher detergent). Let the disposal continue to run, along with the hot water. The suds will build up over the top of the rubber protectors, cleaning the underside, and removing built-up grease, etc. You may need to repeat if it has a bad build-up of the gunk. Do this every week or two to keep the underside of the rubber protectors clean. This will also keep the disposal clean and grease free, and eliminate odors, without using harsh chemicals, and is easier and much less expensive than commercial products that are made for the same purpose, but with the same good results.

∙ 16y agoThe rubber hose leading from your airgap to your garbage disposal or drain pipe is propably plugged. Remove hose and clean or replace. Also, when you remove the hose leading from the airgap to the garbage disposal, check to ensure that your stopper plug is removed from the garbage disposal. The stopper plug is a metal or rubber plug placed in the garbage disposal for people that don't have a dishwasher. The best way to remove this plug is by taking a screwdriver and placing it on the plug and gently tapping the butt of the screwdriver with a hammer until the plug pops out. Use metal fingers to remove the plug from the upper hopper chamber of the garbage disposal or (if you are daring enough) remove with your hands.
First and foremost, disconnect the power supply to the disposal. Most accidents involving a garbage disposal are the result of tools and hands being inserted into the unit, which then powers on. Disconnect the unit before working on it. Once the problem is resolved, reconnect the power source and set the rubber collar in place before turning on the unit.

You should take them to a disposal centre
Sometimes, they can be a pain. If nothing was damaged in getting it off, the rubber seal is down all the way on the disposal, it will go back up. Sometimes it is hard to get all three tabs on the locking ring to line up. Put something under the disposal to hold it up against the sink so that you can use both hands to get the locking ring started. Use a phillips screw driver in the holes of the ring to get it locked in place.
Rubber is primarily produced from the latex sap collected from rubber trees. This sap is harvested by tapping the trees and then processed to create different rubber products. Additionally, synthetic rubber can also be produced from petroleum-based feedstocks.

The orange ones? Those are just to help with safe sharps disposal.
there are 3 key parts to know. 1. the highest plastic ring, touching the sink. leave it for now. 2. plastic ring below that, has two long holes in it, which hold two tabs that are part of the disposer body. this ring must be tapped until it rotates about 20 degrees. then the disposer falls out. 3. ring number two now slips down and touches a rubber ring. remove the rubber ring and these parts come off. 4. go back to the top ring and spin it until the steel part is free and can be lifted out of the sink
Not easily. Either keep them and cut them down to rubber bands, or hand them over to a car tyre place for disposal.
To hook a drain line, not a water line, from the dishwasher to the garbage disposer is as follows: there is a connection on the garbage disposer for a dishwasher (on the side) There is a plastic fitting that came with the disposer(if all parts were saved) The fitting is going to look like it has barbed ridges(fortubing toslide over)on one end and a flange and seal at the other end. 1) make sure the plastic is knocked out of the disposer where the fitting connects to. 2) Connect fitting to disposer using 2 screws 3) Connect drain hose from dishwasher to disposer by sliding rubber gromet over plastic barbed fitting. Make sure you cut the rubber gromet to the right size of the fitting 4) Use hose clamp over rubber gromet. 5) Use zip ties to hang drain tubing as high as you can so water wont drain back into dishwasher. (new dishwashers ususally have p-trap built into the drain line already.) thats it. should work
