You should always use the octane rating for which your vehicle engine was designed. To drop octane rating to 87 for an engine that needs 91 octane, will result in very poor performance, and rotten fuel mileage, which results in consuming more fuel, thus totally upsetting any initial cost savings per gallon.
you don't. 2003 Toyota matrix xrs does not have a timing belt. It has a timing chain which never needs replacing.
It depends on the kind of Matrix that you have. Both the base 2WD model and the 4WD model have a 1ZZ-FE engine that produces roughly 140hp. The 2WD XRS edition has the 2ZZ-GE engine, which produced 180hp in 2003. As a bit of trivia, the 2ZZ-GE engine was co-developed by Toyota and Yamaha and is used in the Toyota Matrix XRS as well as the Corolla XRS, Celica and the Lotus Exige and Elise.

5x100 NO, it depends on the version / trim of Matrix or Pontiac Vibe. Some changed to 5x114 in 2009, such as the XRS, GT, and AWD version....go to Tirerack.com, put in your Make/Year/Model/Version, click Wheels and it'll show you the bolt pattern.
Remove The Black Cove Off The Top And They Will Be Right There You Will Probably Need Atleast an 8" Extender to Get To Them Becasue They Don't Have Spark Plug Wires atleast on the 2zz-ge aka XRS Motor I do Not Know aboout The 1zz-fe AKA Matrix, XR, AWD
The Toyota Corolla XRS was put on the market in 2003. This model was released with a 1.8 litre four-cylinder DOHC engine, 170 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque. It's made more sporty than the original Corolla, and costs a little more.
The 1.8 liter four cylinder engine in a 2009 Toyota Corolla has a timing CHAIN ( and also the 2.4 liter in the Corolla XRS model )
