Generally, it is only possible to convert a SOHC engine to DOHC is if there is a DOHC version of that engine that uses a DOHC head on the same block as the SOHC version. However, there may be other complications here. For instance, if the SOHC head is a two valve head and the DOHC head is a four valve head, it will probably be necessary to upgrade your pistons so that you have sufficient valve reliefs for four valves. Otherwise, a piston to valve collision could result. In most cases, a better idea is to do a full engine swap to a DOHC engine. This way, you don't have to worry about such things as the availability of a DOHC head for your block or piston valve reliefs. Also, in most cases, a full engine swap is often cheaper, simpler, and necessary to be emissions compliant (if this is a concern where you live).
12 point 14 mm socket is required! This is the only time this particular socket is used anywhere on the Kia 4 CYL DOHC 2.0 Litre engine. It is strongly recommended that you replace the existing head bolts during reassembly because of torque accuracy.
Yes they are tourqe to yield bolts and are one time use only. Im having the problem of locating new bolts right now for my g/f's 94 zoo.
Stud bolts are the ones with no head, only the bolt itself you can fast'em with vise grips or with nuts. Machine bolts are the ones that you need a wrench to fast it(you put the wrench in the head).
Yes, Only to factory spec's. Use a torque wrench, and follow factory torque spec's
If your coolant is leaking, chances you have the head bolts pulling, a common problem on northstar engines. Dealer head bolt inserts don't work, they will tell you that, and no guarantee. The only 100% success rate fix would be " NS300L ". These are longer head bolts and inserts. You can find them on the web, and on Ebay.
There are sporadic reports of head gaskets blowing when the head bolts strip out of the aluminum block. It seems the only long term repair is to replace the short block.
These head bolts are NOT torqed using a torgue wrench. They are turned according to the manual a number of degrees past initial contact to the head to achive the correct tightness. Warning, the bolts are "one time use" only because they are designed to stretch as you tighten them. Re-using them will result in breakage of the bolt in the block.
all 96 gt mustangs had the 4.6 sohc. only the cobra had the 4.6 dohc.
Well... that sort of depends on the viewer whether they liked the new vestroia spectra phantom or the mechtanium surge spectra phantom. The only difference between the two is that spectra changes clothing, from red to black and purple. His helios is a different story.
Only if it has Coil On Plugs.
nothing. only if it is a dohc or a sohc.
