FreonThe connection is on or close to the receiver dryer. If you add too much, the compressor will lock up or it won't cool very good. They don't sell Freon any longer. By the way, your car takes R134A refrigerant. If you add Freon, you ruin it.
depemds on the car as how much freon it will hold. some cars have a tag saying how much freon the car is filled with. Too much freon is just as bad as not enough freon.
take it to someone that can reclaim it
Yes you can have too much refrigerant in your A/C system and it will damage the system. The only way to know how much is in the system is to measure it by using a gauge.
It's too volatile.
I wouldn't pay anyone to do it, it'd probably by a lot more than to just do it yourself. You can get a can of it at auto zone or somewhere for about ten to twenty dollars and they should be able to tell you where the valve is that you put the fluid in. Second opinion: Your car should not need freon. If it does, then there is a leak, and it would be inappropriate to add freon without fixing the leak. Besides, it is possible to have too much freon, so you need to measure what was in the system. You need tools and equipment to do this, so take the car someplace and have it looked at.
there should be a white sticker on the underside of the hood that tells you how much a full charge is. If you are adding freon, it is best to get it sucked down to vacuum and then add a full charge. The a/c works best when the exact right amount is in there, not too much, not too little.
Excessive freon may cause the compressor to"slug" (Seize)
the low pressure line will freeze over due to the overcharge on the low side and the system will shutdown on the pressure switch. This will cause improper cycling of the system. This will result in hot air blowing out of the vents.
You recharge an A/C system by adding freon through the Low side port. Look for the L on the cap. Never recharge on the high side. Too much pressure on this side and your freon can might explode. OK, once again it's not freon! it's R134a refrigerant that should be used to fill your car system. Many people call it freon but you need the r134a refrigerant( and oil, too). Anyway, freon cans are only available to certified mechanics in most states now.
Hye Bobby=-=The low port is either on or next to the receiver dryer or shiny can looking thing at the rear of the engine compartment. If you get too much in it won't cool as well. You really need gauges to see how much to add. GoodluckJoe
the air will be hot . actually never, it is not an easy task, you are always taking some risk, if the system is over 7 years old it is best to rework the system. flush all old oil out , change bearing in clutch seal in front of compressor , all system seals, then refill with fresh oil and freon. as a quick remedy add freon with oil and dye and sealer mix, then pray. if you continue on though and too much oil accumulates then compressor will blow, if too little oil it will sieze and destroy system leaving a 1,200 bill to restore
