An outdoor couch is a good idea if you can find outdoor fabric that wont mildew. If thats not possible I would go for a waterproof swing with a detachable cushion for easy washing.

NOT a good idea to even consider using cheap fabric in your quilt or sewing project. Why go to all the trouble to make something of quality, only to have it fall apart because of a poor grade of fabric. Use the cheap fabric to work out a test sample of a specific pattern.
