Yes, if the adhesive is smooth, no lumps and if you use a compatible glue, not thinset cement
You can typically remove adhesive from linoleum by soaking a cloth in warm, soapy water and placing it over the adhesive to soften it. Once softened, gently scrape the adhesive off using a plastic scraper or putty knife. Avoid using harsh chemicals that may damage the linoleum.
You have to use a floor scraper and scrape it off. It is a grueling job but if you're lucky it might just come off easy.
I have used that to stick lino tiles. It worked very well. Mapei glues are very good.
In the past, all kitchen floors were covered with linoleum. The linoleum was worn.

All glues should be 'adhesive'. It simply means 'something that will stick' -and a glue is not much use if it won't stick.
Silicone adhesive.
I usually just use a sharpened putty knife or combination of different sizes of putty knifes. Usually they come up pretty easy. Make sure you get the old adhesive of the floor if you are gonna replace it with more. Good luck. eta: the tiles and/or adhesive could contain asbestos
You can clean sap off of linoleum with regular dish soap. With a solution of dish soap, water, elbow grease, and a scrub brush, you can generally remove the sap from the area. If that doesn't work, try one of the adhesive removers from your local store.
