WikiAnswers is not an image site, so no, we don't have diagrams.

Here's how to make a paper boat, though:

  1. Take a square piece of paper - you can check to be sure it's square by folding it diagonally - a square will fold evenly into a triangle with no paper hanging out left over (you can cut off the extra to make it square if you want)
  2. Fold the paper in half and crease the edge.
  3. Unfold it and fold it in half the other direction and crease that. Leave it folded this time
  4. Set the paper down so that the loose sides are facing you and the folded edge is at the top away from you
  5. Starting at the top (folded edge), fold each corner in toward the middle - notice there is a line where you creased it!
  6. You will now have a triangle at the top and some left-over strips of paper at the bottom (the loose edges)
  7. Fold the loose edges up over the triangle. It will start to look like a boat now, with the triangle being the sail and the loose strips the bottom of the boat.
  8. Fold the bottom edges up again - you will now have to pull the paper apart a little bit so that you can fold the bottom part of the triangle along with the strips of loose paper. Be careful not to tear the paper at this point!
  9. You should now have a triangle at the top and a folded boat shape at the bottom, with the inside of the boat a hollow triangle.
  10. Flatten the boat shape out a little bit so that it will stand up on the table. It is now a boat and you can set it in the water to float - it will eventually get soggy, but it will sail around for awhile!

What will happen to a paper boat with wax on it?

If a paper boat has wax on it, the wax may repel water and help make the boat more waterproof. This can help the boat float for longer periods of time before getting soggy and sinking. However, it may also make the boat more prone to tipping over due to the added weight and change in balance.
