Satin is a method (or technique) of weaving not an object and cannot be sustainable or unsustainable. The cloth produced by tis method is shiny and attractive. However, some people refer to the cloth made by this method as satin as well (in the same way French fried potatoes are called "French Fries"). In that case, Satin can be a cloth made of silk, nylon, or polyester and the sustainable nature of the natural fibre sources (silk) are evident while the unsustainable nature of the petrochemical sources are just as evident.
