I bought two fresh lemons and quartered them. I brought a small non stick pan of water to a boil. I put the eight chunks of lemon in the water and let it simmer for about four hours. I checked it often and added water when necessary. I also turned on the fan above the stove to allow the steam to rise up there, in hopes to neutralize any odor in there as well.

I also bought an air odor eliminator spray - not the cover up kind but the kind that is supposed to kill odor causing bacteria.

I'm never cooking onions in my apartment ever again!

Typically an onion doesn't have an odour unless it's rotten or has been cut. I would put it in a ziploc bag and that should keep the gases that an onion produces contained.
