I have a 2007 c230 but it should be the same assembly. Start by removing the back cover on the headlight assembly behind the low beam. Push the snap-tab down at it's back end and pull towards the engine. The cover opens like a door, then slides out of the hinged side once the cover is opened far enough (you may have to move the small coolant hose up and out of the way on the passenger side). Next, carefully remove the female connector from the lamp by pulling it towards the engine. Then rotate the black ring retainer (it has a curved tab on each side) until you hear a 'click' sound. The lamp should now be free to remove from the headlight assembly.
