If you play an E you have your thumb, finger 1, finger 2, finger 3, finger 4 and finer 5.

To play an A flat, you take off finger 2 and 5, so you have your fingers like this:

Finger 1 : DOWN

Finger 2 : UP

Finger 3 : DOWN

Finger 4 : DOWN

Finger 5 : UP

Finger 6 : UP (you can can have it down if you prefer, it makes no difference)

Finger 7 : UP

Thumb : DOWN

The note will look exactly like a B but will have the letter b over it. Or if that line has the letter b at the start!
