How do you make garland from cranberries and popcorn?

I'm not sure how to tell when this was posted, so this answer might be dated. When I strung cranberries and popcorn, I used a sewing needle and thread. The heavy thread that used to be called coat thread worked well, but a double string of good sewing thread should work. I used fresh cranberries and unbuttered popcorn, which is either made on the stove in a large pan (you need a lid) with a few tablespoons of hot oil (cook on med. heat, make sure you cover the pan and place one kernal of corn in the oil. when that kernal pops, the oil is hot enough to add enough popcorn to cover the bottom of the pan. shake pan over burner when it starts to pop to keep from scorching and hold the lid on while doing this with oven mits) or an old air popper. microwave popcorn will probably not work because most of it is buttered and or salted. The cranberries can be found this time of year in bags like carrots in your local produce section. I alternated 4 or more pieces of popcorn with a cranberry for added color. Stick the needle right through the pieces like your stringing beads. Make sure there is a good knot at the end or knot it around a piece of the popcorn. Good Luck.
