To make a double Gourd Vase, select two gourds as close to identical, (size and shape) as possible, with a fine tooth saw, slice off the side of the main body a small portion, (about 1/4 of the main body size) do the same to both Gourds, the object is to have both sliced holes about the same size. To fine tune the size holes use a 8-1/2 x 11" sheet of 180 grit sand paper and place on a flat surface, and tape the edges down, take the Gourd with the largest opening and with a smooth steady pulling motion, pull the Gourd across the sand paper flattening the edges of the hole in the Gourd, now do the same with the Gourd with the smallest opening, continue to sand until this gourd's hole is as close to the same size as the other Gourd's hole. The Gourd material is similar to wood, therefore a good wood glue can be used, (I like titebond III, its resistant to water and has excellent adhesion properties) apply glue and use tape to hold together, (TIP: position tape so you can use a damp strip of cloth to wipe excess glue squeeze-out away) once dry, (drying time, 6 or more hours) you can use a wood-putty to put around the glue line, use more then you need, now with a "round" pencil, drag around the glue line making a nice radius in the wood-putty. After the putty is dry you can chip the excess away very easily, be careful not to harm the radius, sand the radius area with 220 grit sand paper until you have a perfect blend of both Gourds, the radius being the connection of the two. You can stain, paint, your choice. Another NOTE: once you conquer these fundamentals, you can do various size gourds, even 3 or more Gourd Vases. You can have a main Vase and several smaller vases attached to the sides of the main vase, in this case you only have to slice the smaller Vases, as for the aforementioned, if you choose you can slice just one Gourd and attach. The more you do this, the more proficient you'll become and you will find easier ways to do things.
Put the flowers in the vase.
You can use polish to make that old vase shine again, but make sure it won't damage your vase first.
