A fascinator is a headpiece. In the early days it was a shawl made from wool or lace. Nowadays a fascinator is sometimes worn instead of a hat. The use of these fascinators became popular around 1990.

It's a Fascinator!
Fascinator is the same in English and French. The pronunciation of the masculine singular noun -- which designates an attractive headgear competitive with hats and popularized initially by Queen Marie Antoinette (November 2, 1755 - October 16, 1793) and recently by Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (born January 9, 1982) -- will be "fa-see-na-tor" in French.
A "fascinator" is a triangular shawl or scarf, usually crocheted, that can double as a bonnet. It was a popular item with frontier women.

The word fascinated is not a noun; fascinated is the past participle, past tense of the verb to fascinate (fascinates, fascinating, fascinated). The past participle is also an adjective (The fascinated audience didn't make a sound.)The noun forms for the verb to fascinate are fascinator and the gerund (verbal noun) fascinating.Another noun form is fascination.
